The Philippine International Eco Show, an international conference/exhibition featuring new environment-friendly materials, products and services, will be held at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City in the Philippines on Aug. 26-28.
Medical Tourism Recommendations
The Philippines is looking to medical tourism as a way to attract more visitors and is examining ways to develop a more seamless approach to make medical travel easier and simpler for patients and medical professionals.
Longer medical visas as well as greater transparency of medical travel packages were also part of a seven-point program on wellness and medical travel recommended recently by the Philippines Joint Foreign Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber also recommended reducing restrictions on foreigners in designated tourism and retirement zones to allow ownership of land and retail facilities and the practice of professions by foreigners.
Injectibles picking up momentum
Injectible procedures are going mainstream in a big way in the U.S. as more and more people become increasingly open about their use of Botox Cosmetic and hyalurionic acid dermal fillers and receiving support from the people they tell.
“In a similar survey four years ago,” said Dr. Laurie Casas, president of The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation, “we dispelled the myth that Hollywood and corporate wives were the typical Botox patient.
“Now demographic and perception data trends show us that esthetic injectible treatments have continued to evolve into mainstream and accepted options for the every day woman.”
Today’s typical esthetic patient is married, a working mother between 41-55 in age, with a household income of under $100,000. As a rule, most are health-conscious and philanthropy minded – with the majority incorporating exercise (95%) and healthy eating habits (78%) into their lives.
Many also volunteer with charitable organizations that matter to them (32%). Nearly seven out of 10 respondents believe that Botox Cosmetic (72%) and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers (65%) are important parts of their esthetic routine.
Some 72% of respondents received Botox cosmetic injections to treat glabellar lines – also important at the 11 frown lines between the brows. Some 63% received hyaluronic acid dermal fillers – the lines around the nose and the mouth.
A few of the most frequently cited reasons for Botox treatments – “to look more relaxed, less stressed” – and for choosing hyaluronic acid dermal fillers – “to look more rejuvenated”.
Botox injections have remained the most frequently performed procedure since FDA approval in 2002.
